Investing in the growth of timber handling

Handling forest industry products is one of Euroports Finland's core activities and sawn timber is one of our most important exports. Most of our timber handling is done in our Rauma and Pietarsaari locations, which handle more than 55 % of all timber exports from the west coast of Finland. In total, more than 1.2 million cubic metres of sawn timber pass through these ports every year to the world.

Over the past 10 years, we have managed to increase the volumes of sawn timber in Rauma and Pietarsaari by up to 125 %. In 2023, the increase compared to the previous year was 30 % in Rauma and 13 % in Pietarsaari. This is the result of long-term development work and successful customer contracts. The growth of the Port of Rauma's timber exports has also been positively influenced by Metsä Fibre's new Rauma sawmill, whose production storage and delivery operations are handled by Euroports Rauma Oy.

“We are strongly committed to developing the handling of sawn timber in Rauma and want to become the best forest industry product handler in Finland”, says Petteri Sammalisto, Strategic Development Director of Euroports Finland. Investments such as the electrically operated Mantsinen 200 DualPower hydraulic cranes will enable us to handle even higher volumes of sawn timber and support our future growth objectives in the forest industry.
