Towards a safer tomorrow through long-term development

Euroports Finland and BB Logistics have worked systematically to promote safety at work and to spread responsibility to all levels of the organization, resulting in significant safety improvements. This achievement is the result of systematic and persistent safety work.

The Line of Fire program has played a key role in identifying hazards in the port environment and increasing safety observations across all parts and functions of the organization. Communication of safety issues internally and between organizations and with other partners also contributes to the achievement of common safety objectives.

"In developing a safety culture, it is important to make observations, actively respond to observations and identified risks, and share lessons learned. Safety discussions play an important role in strengthening and embedding a safety culture into proactive safety activities every day, with the idea that safety is a shared responsibility." Marko Kääriäinen (QHSE Manager) comments.

"Euroports organized a safety workshop with the stevedores' and foremen's safety representatives and heads of units. The workshop discussed the safety measures and improvement possibilities of the LOF program in relation to lifting, working at height and machine traffic. Jaana Luomanen from LähiTapiola, the occupational accident insurance company, got the workshop participants to discuss the successes of recent years and then talked about the responsibility for occupational health and safety and cooperation matters. In addition, an event was organized for partner companies on the themes of safety and sustainability. Safety work is continuous and systematic and is carried out within the organization in close cooperation with the various stakeholders." Jarmo Kivi (Director Technical Services & QHSE).
